I'll start from the point where you have your remixed artifact (e.g., a few pages of text, a response video, a comic sequence) already done and ready to be published.
Here's what you do:
1. In the search window on the left-hand side of the screen for the main page of newlits.org, type the title of the page you want to create (e.g., Remixing "Little Brother"). Hit the GO button (*not* the search button)
2. You'll be taken to a page that says 'Remixing "Little Brother"' couldn't be found. Would you like to create this page" (or wording to that effect). Click on the "create this page" link.
3. You'll next be taken to a page that now has 'Remixing Little Brother"' as its title, and an editing space will be open, ready for you to add your text, link to your video, embed your jpg file etc. Click save.
4. *Now*, you need to add a link to your new page from an existing wiki page. So, go here: http://newlits.org/index.php?title=Ideas_and_Remixes Click on the "edit" tab towards the top of your screen. Scroll right to the bottom of the now editable page and type at the bottom of the list you'll find there: * [[title of the page you created]]. The asterisk makes a bullet point, and the double-square brackets signify an internal link--they'll go off and find the page you created and automatically create a hyperlink to it. It's really important to make sure that the title of the page and what you put inside the double brackets matches *exactly*. Thus, taking our "Little Brother" page example again, you would type: *[[Remixing "Little Brother"]]. Click on Save.
5. You'll be taken back to the main viewing mode for the "Ideas and Remixes" page and, if you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you'll now see a brand new link to the page you just created. Tah-dah!
Give it a go--let us know when it's done, and I'll dig out a prize for the person to post first about having successfully added a new page to the wiki.
actually, there's a *much* easier way to add a page (this is the one that's listed on the "Getting Started" page of the wiki, too--shows how much mroe carefully I need to read! :D).
Step 1. Go here: http://newlits.org/index.php?title=Ideas_and_Remixes (make sure you're logged in). click on the edit tab.
Step 2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and key in: *[[title of the page you want to add]]. Click save. This will take you back to the "viewable" version of this same page.
Step 2: Scroll down and click on the link you've just created--this will automatically generate a new page and open the editing space and you're away!
I'll *still* award a prize to the first person who adds a page to the wiki though! :D
